⚠️ PRA is inherited in an Autosomal Recessive manner in dogs, meaning that they Must receive two copies of the mutated gene (one from each parent) to develop the disease. In general, carrier dogs do not have features of the disease but when bred with another carrier of the same Mutation, there is a risk of having affected pups.

A CARRIER ONLY has 1 Copy and MANY of the Diseases like PRA Require 2 Copies to be "Activated", so to speak.

If a Dog that is a CARRIER (A dog that has 1 Copy of a Gene) for an Autosomal Recessive Disease (A Disease that Requires 2 Copies of a Gene for the dog to be Impacted) is bred to a Dog that is CLEAR there are NO CHANCES of puppies HAVING that Disease.

So, ANY Puppy you get from us will NOT be Genetically Predisposed to HAVE or be IMPACTED BY ANY of the diseases their Parents are CLEAR of & we GUARANTEE that!
*Some of our Adults are MDR1 POSITIVE.

That being said, Please, feel free to check with us about Individual Adult Dog's Test Results, Review Our Contract & Ask Questions!

We do Not withhold or hide anything & are happy to Send/SHOW Results.

We, also, Post the Results Publicly on our website (On the "Our Aussies" Page via the Dropbox Link) & via Facebook.

Below is a Reliable Resource that gives information on EACH Genetic Disease, They are also a Great Resource to CALL and Verify everything I have said Above.

With New research & Discoveries New Tests May be Added overtime!

IF there IS a Test on PawPrints Full Breed Panel that L.L.A has Not Tested for, PLEASE, let L.L.A Know so we Can Keep our dogs Current/Up-To-Date on ALL Available Breed Specific Tests!

We do our Best to keep all Breeding Dogs current on the Breed's Genetic "Full Panel".
Sometimes, it does take a few weeks-months to be able to update our dogs panels but we always try our best to make Genetics a TOP PRIORITY.

What is a CARRIER of a RECESSIVE Disease?:

https://www.facebook.com/324578144672063/posts/587964278333447/

* Please note that "MDR1" is a Multi-Drug Resistant gene, this gene does NOT shorten the dogs life or impact its quality of life (if managed properly) so there is no "guarantee" for it.  The "MDR1" gene does not impact your dogs health, it just means that certain medicines/drugs must be avoided.  There have been cases where even if a dog does Not possess that gene or is merely a recessive carrier of the gene the dog can be affected so it is best to always just treat the dog as though they have it even if they don't.

** Please, also, note, ALL of Our adult dogs are Genetically Free of this disease & the puppies are Clear of HUU Genetically.  "HUU" (Canine Hyperuricosuria) can occur due to Other causes NOT Just genetics, like diet or stress & unless found to be Genetically Impacted is Not covered in the Genetic Guarantee.

*** "Intestinal cobalamin malabsorption (Australian shepherd type)" (ICM/Vitamin B12 Deficiency) is a New Test that we have not Yet been able to test for. This disease is Not considered a Required test for the breed and IS considered an Add-On with many companies like Orivet, GenSol and others.

ICM//Vitamin B12 Deficiency is inherited in an Autosomal Recessive manner in dogs meaning that they Must receive two copies of the mutated gene (one from each parent) to develop the disease. In general, carrier dogs do not have features of the disease but when bred with another carrier of the same Mutation, there is a risk of having affected pups.

HOWEVER, All of L.L.A's Breeding dogs will be tested (in a Timely Manner) for ALL NEW TESTS Discovered & Added to the "Miniature Australian Shepherd Breed Profile".
